This hitch kit comes with a ball that can be raised or lowered when not in use and a support rod that fits under the ball. When the support beam was installed on my wagon, the holes on the hitch bracket did not line up with the holes on the wagon frame. The hitch bracket aligns with the holes on the wagon frame when the support beam is not installed, but I'm not sure how much this affects the operation of the hitch. I'm wary of using a ball hitch without a support beam. The company offered to send in a new hitch kit with the caveat that if it was a manufacturing issue, it might not fix the problem. I asked them to send a new clutch kit. To date I have not received a new tow bar kit.
