I'm an OXO Fan. Most of their stuff is swinging. They had a design lab in New York that I support. While it's a great idea in theory, this tiny gadget isn't the perfect kitchen tool. Grating your cheddar takes twice as long as a standard 10-inch grater. The plastic frame is not strong enough to withstand the friction pressure - see crack. It's unforgivable. The open design means that instead of a neat pile of shavings, you get a wide, messy spread that's impractical. I can accept that I could use a bowl. Before you commit to this budget compact solution, think about what and how a good basic grater should work, and think twice about trade-offs.
