I've usually had trouble with lightbulbs that work from dusk to dawn due to the type of decorative lights installed outside my home. Apparently others weren't as sensitive as these bulbs. Lightbulbs work perfectly. Just screw them in (don't forget to turn off the switch to avoid electric shock). If you turn on the switch after installing a new bulb, it will turn on briefly and then turn off. (I'm assuming you install the bulb in daylight!). Leave the switch on. The lamp does the rest. These lamps are worth their money. They're certainly not too bright; just bright enough to keep anyone from walking around.
