I am reviewing the 12 inch version of this flashlight. I recommend it to others unless you're trying to grow light intense coral underneath and I don't have a deep water system with bottom corals. I use my 12 inch lamp over a refugium that hangs on the side of my aquarium at work. I keep some small rocks in there, some snails/hermits and put two coral polyps that have fallen off their main colonies in the main tank. I placed a single poly stud coral about three weeks ago and a four poly zoanthid last week. The carnation polyp has already grown to three polyps and the zoanthid is fully open and happy even at the bottom of my refugium (about 5 inches below the LED lights). Seaweed and a few pieces of codiaum that were happy and stayed there for about four weeks. So for me this device is great. However, I wouldn't try to put light demanding corals underneath. If you know what this LED bulb can do, this is a great light for the price. But if you're expecting this 12-inch version to grow light-loving corals, I haven't tried it and can't say if it'll work for you anyway.
