Light it up! in Aquarium Lights

Installed May 8, 2014. Nice bright LED. Seems to be very well built. I've only used it for about 24 hours in 2 days but still haven't burned out. It appears to dissipate heat very well, preventing one of the main causes of premature LED failure. Mine is installed under the hood so ventilation isn't very good. However, it can only have a temperature of 70-80 degrees. Luke feels warm. I also love that you can independently control bright white or cool blue light with toggle switches on eitherโ€ฆ

Great value for fish and aquatic life

I have this on a 35 HEX freshwater fit I've only had it a few weeks but so far so good. Given the height of the tank (25 inches), the light isn't enough to get into the "middle" section. I've added FugeRay-R, which helps, but I'll probably add another FR or something like that soon. The mounting bits worked great on this old tank with the "standard" rim. The only criticism is the cable length. It has a reasonable number of wires from the wall to the power supply, but not close enough to theโ€ฆ

Not very pretty but does the job well

I am reviewing the 12 inch version of this flashlight. I recommend it to others unless you're trying to grow light intense coral underneath and I don't have a deep water system with bottom corals. I use my 12 inch lamp over a refugium that hangs on the side of my aquarium at work. I keep some small rocks in there, some snails/hermits and put two coral polyps that have fallen off their main colonies in the main tank. I placed a single poly stud coral about three weeks ago and a four polyโ€ฆ

Bright light, happy plants! (see photo)

So as a personal experiment to see if I can actually grow plants underwater (haha) and after much searching I decided to try this 10 inch to convert 5 gallon Fluval Chi . The tank itself is excellent but that filter and light had to be removed. This 10 inch bar is the perfect width for a 10 inch chi, looks sharp and my plants (anubias nana, moss ball, rangeri swords and supposedly dead tomentosum and anacharis) are growing fast and bright green. The light shows off my fish beautifully and theโ€ฆ

Decent for the price and good for low light plants

I purchased this in May 2013 for my 40 gallon planter and now over a year later it is still working perfectly. The reason I gave it 4 stars out of 5 is that it is not suitable for growing plants in my aquarium. If you plant it in the middle of the aquarium, it will reach the bottom and the plants directly below will be fine, but the plants in front or behind the aquarium will not get enough light. I also have an open top tank (no glass or lid) and when I put it on it it collected splashes fromโ€ฆ

Very bright light, low power consumption.

Bought based on other reviews and couldn't be happier. My plants are doing much better than with the old LED lights. Fits very well. I like the blue light of the moon, but for some reason I don't like the fish. I turn it on and they start clicking. They'll settle down after a while, so I rarely use it, mostly just to show other people. It's a little pricey for LEDs, but it's the same for most other lights. I'm glad I bought this instead of a lamp system. I have very hard water and it's easy toโ€ฆ

Worked less than 2 hours - exchange in progress for a week

Update: I've had a replacement bulb for about a week now. It still works great. I upgraded it to 3 stars because the light is awesome while it works. There are some reviews saying they had problems after about a month/30 days so I'll update the shelf life information after some time of use. I have followed the Finnex representative's instructions/advice in the comments on this. Review. I'm not sure if this solved the potential issue or if the replacement unit wasn't part of a bad batch. Small light powerhouse!

UPDATE: 12/16/16 - I've been using this LED lighting system for almost three years now. Over the past few months, moisture has seeped into the plexiglass that covers the LEDs, corroding some of them. As a result, some LEDs burned out while others dimmed noticeably. However, most LEDs will continue to function normally. The question is when will they disintegrate to the point where they no longer work? It was a relatively inexpensive flashlight, but the larger, more powerful versions suffer from
