Review on 🐠 Finnex FugeRay LED Aquarium Light with Moonlights by Candy Malone

Revainrating 4 out of 5

Decent for the price and good for low light plants

I purchased this in May 2013 for my 40 gallon planter and now over a year later it is still working perfectly. The reason I gave it 4 stars out of 5 is that it is not suitable for growing plants in my aquarium. If you plant it in the middle of the aquarium, it will reach the bottom and the plants directly below will be fine, but the plants in front or behind the aquarium will not get enough light. I also have an open top tank (no glass or lid) and when I put it on it it collected splashes from popping bubbles (from the air hoses in my tank) on the bottom of the light, it didn't cause any damage. but I had to keep wiping it down because I have hard water and I didn't want anything to build up on it. I've since picked it up and hung it under the shelf I put up. When it's up it spreads the light better in the tank (front, back and middle) but doesn't seem strong enough to support plant growth through photosynthesis (not high enough PAR for my plants). Plants that do very well in low light are only doing well now, and plants that have died in the depths are now half dead. I've been feeding my plants fertilizer and it seems to be helping, but I think I will buy another one to increase the PAR (light output value).
