The Sony/Zeiss 24/2 lens is small and light compared to other Carl Zeiss lenses for Sony and offers excellent center and edge sharpness in a full frame image. Compared to the Sony/Zeiss 16-35/2.8 lens, I find its colors a bit colder. Compared to the Minolta 24/2.8 lens, the Sony/Zeiss 24/2 lens is much sharper and offers better contrast. You can find an informative comparison of these three lenses and with the Minolta 17-35/3.5G at artaphot dot ch. Although the Sony/Zeiss 24/2 lens seems expensive, its price should be considered. Compared to the Nikon 24mm f/1.4G ED AF-S RF SWM wide-angle prime lens for Nikon DSLRs and the Nikon 24mm f/1.4G AF-S ED DSLR NIKKOR lens, which are significantly more expensive, as well such as the price of the Canon EF 24mm f/1.4L USM wide-angle lens for Canon SLR cameras, which is slightly more expensive than the Sony/Zeiss 24/2 lens.
