That was exactly what I wanted. I'm pretty gentle with my electronics so I didn't need an explosion proof enclosure. I just needed something that would protect me from scratches and bumps, and more importantly, something that would keep me from hitting the power button every time I move the iPad! This concludes this summary. I love that it has a cut out on the side so I can use my Smart Keyboard and although it has a slightly raised lip on the front the Smart Keyboard still closes properly. The power and volume buttons are exposed as cutouts, so there's no problem with the hard rubber pads, but they're recessed, making them much harder to press accidentally. I think it's a great case and if something happens to it I'll probably replace it with this one.
