This 0.5 gallon jug is the same size as a non-insulated gallon jug. However, it's much better since my water stays ice cold. I can scoop ice cubes from the freezer into the hole at the start of the day and fill it up twice while I work and still have ice left over at the end of the day. As a test, I put in 1/4 ice and cold water. I left it alone for 24 hours and checked it out. The ice was melting but the water was freezing. It's great for me. I like the two lid options, but I mostly use a straw. I don't use a harness because I haven't camped or hiked in a long time.
