First of all, be careful not to pinch yourself when closing the standing buckle. To close the working buckle, simply push it from behind with your thumb and index finger of your opposite hand. Thus, the force cannot unintentionally open the standing buckle. I also prefer to open the working clasp with my thumb from behind and two fingers apart. The buckle is very well made and makes a solid impression. The strap is thin and strong and the pointed end is beautifully burned. My only minor gripe is that the working buckle opens away from the body so it's a bit fiddly to adjust while walking. This is one of the two best woven ribbon designs I've tried.
