Review on VW Volkswagen Uncut Blade Keyless Remote Key Fob Shell Case πŸ”‘ - No Chips, Black | Jetta Passat Golf Beetle Rabbit GTI CC EOS by Eddie Duncan

DO NOT USE a small screwdriver! and don't lose the microchip capsule.

I bought this to replace the case body as the end of my original keyring broke off. The key fob consists of two main parts: the front half holds the spring together and contains the microchip, while the back half contains the button circuit and battery. You can replace the internal button IC on the back half of the key by splitting the back of the case into 2 halves after splitting. Resist the temptation to unscrew the plate on the new part with a screwdriver unless you really have to - it holds the spring loaded half of the fob together - if you do it's a full PIA to align the loaded spring that way that it works. again. You can do everything without taking the front half apart. The key blade can be removed (or replaced) without it (note a punch on the lever loop). You'll need to remove the microchip from the original faceplate to use it in this new part, so use a screwdriver on your old part (you'll see the spring-loaded blade tear apart) and remove the tiny chip capsule. The components don't entirely match those on this one (you can't snap off parts of the old one and install on this part - they won't fit like that). It doesn't have a rubber O-ring that seals the back of the chips. The microchip area is also not covered with this replacement key fob - the old chip is easy to insert but can fall out, but is securely fixed once the key fob is fully assembled. Pros: It works if you take your time. Cons: No O-ring, weaker switch leaf spring. The components do not exactly match the original case - you can't just put half of the original key on the back of this case.

Pros
  • GOLS certified
Cons
  • Definitely a bad product
