I bought a factory refurbished Brother MFC-8690DW all-in-one printer for home use in 2014. I probably only printed less than 500 pages on it. It was working very well until recently the printer stopped printing and displayed an error code due to a drum failure. No matter how I delete and reset, I couldn't get it to work again. The printer always stopped printing after the paper went through the toner and stopped in the machine when 2/3 of the page was covered with black loose toner powder. Investing in a new Brother DR520 drum costs $100 at Revain. For this money I can buy a new, simpler version of the printer. So don't take a real role. Luckily I saw this part 3 compatible drum with very good reviews and for less than $20. I decided to give it a try. When I received it I found it was packaged very well. The kit included very detailed installation instructions for different printer models. I carefully compared it to the original Brother toner and only found little difference in terms of the plastic parts and finish quality, other than a different colour. This one is gray and the brother is black. Scales are also similar. There are slight differences in shape in the area of the edge joints. The biggest design difference I noticed is the part under the corona wire. The V4INK version has a slotted sheet metal and the Brother version has 4 wires. The print quality of the first 4-5 pages disappointed me. The pages had streaks and uneven color. This may be due to residue from the previous drum. After printing another 4 pages, the print quality quickly improved and I was finally able to get a very sharp print quality. The only thing I can say about him is incredible. I didn't expect much! If it can run 1000 pages for me I would say it is a great product and I wouldn't hesitate to give it a top rating.
