I use this laptop stand when I play my gaming laptop in bed at the end of the day. The idea is that it provides enough airflow when gaming as my laptop can get very hot depending on the graphics intensity. It doesn't offer any additional cooling via fans (obviously), but being able to elevate it over any surface, especially a soft surface like a bed, is a huge benefit. The size is actually good enough that I can use it on my knees and also as long as my legs are not crossed. My laptop is 15.6 inches and not tiny for that screen size (it's an Alienware M15 R4). This is a basic product but works well and has enough padding in all the right places to protect my laptop.
