Here camper Avid Hammock was looking for a winter shelter that would keep out the wind. As hammock campers know, having only one tarp is a very cold experience changing in sub-zero temperatures. A real tent completely blocks the wind and is a turning point in winter. This suggests that this Oak Creek hideout showed promise with its doors and side drawers. Cleaned the lower pillars, then popped out two latches that had broken right through the thin door fabric. To fix this, create an elastic cord and attach it to the grommets at the bottom of each door and connect to the opposite corner of the base. To be clear, the left door attaches to the grommet in the lower right corner, and the right door attaches to the grommet in the lower left corner. The material resembles the rubberized raincoat of the old days. Heavy main body and light weak doors. Snaps rusted on day one. Hey, you get what you pay for, simple as that. The stakes are useless. Aluminum hooks or snow anchors from Shepard save the day. I also added two retractable elements on each side. This helps in heavy sleet or rain by keeping the sides fully extended. Another thing they could do is make it more user friendly. I doubt whether I should recommend this product. It's waterproof, yes, it's a good design, but the execution sucks. Clasps should be stainless steel and reinforced with patches behind, side cutouts added. Reinforced stock links at the top, better prices. Screeds and Ridgeline require a reflective, stronger door material. I would be willing to pay around $100 for all of these upgrades. The concept is good, but please update the product.
