I wanted to be able to separate my living room from my dining room so I would have free space for dogs or a barrier

This is a relatively inexpensive and well made gate but they do have their drawbacks. I have an open space between the living room and the dining room. I started working in a kindergarten, but sometimes I took care of people. I wanted to be able to separate my living room from my dining room so if I wanted to have room for the dog or fence the kids in if I needed to go to the bathroom or something, I could do no worries. So here's the big part! It's expanding. It stretches considerably and looks great when not fully expanded. It's a soft mesh with a durable fabric about the width of my palm where it connects to the grille. So you don't have to worry if the child trips over it. You will not hurt yourself. It comes with two gate supports, so with the door open you generally don't have flex or more stress on the wall brackets when little feet are on the aisle. You can tighten the connections so they don't wobble back and forth and stay in the configuration you want. Please note that you will need to pull them up from time to time. You can split them into two parts instead of three if your hole isn't //so// big. There was no mine. Two would be a perfect fit, three would mean I would have to go fishing and to be honest I didn't want to. There are templates so you know where to place the wall anchors as if you are using it with two panels versus three there is a difference in placement on one side. Accomodation. Here's the part that sucked, and that's why it gets 4 stars instead of 5. If you have baseboards on your wall, big ones, then the mounting points on the side where the gate is won't work. So you can either raise the gate a little, which has the disadvantage that the supports below don't touch the ground, or get it back. I didn't return it. What I'm going to do now that I have a 3D printer is try to print an extension so I can mount it flush with the ground, or at least where the gate is resting on the bottom supports. Now they're just mounted a little higher on the wall and I make sure the kids don't step on them. Ask me how well THIS rule is followed when I'm not looking. Whilst I like that the door swings to either side, the locking mechanism is quite simple and kids find their way around very quickly. A 2 year old already guessed it despite our attempts to hide the discovery from them. So in our case, the use is more functional than safe. I wish it had a latch, more like our very tall pet gate above. Well remember I only used 2 panels. I have a third board. The other way out of my living room is into an entryway with a closet, so the space is wider than a traditional gate, even with an extension. But that's just for that third panel! But wait. No material was included in the kit for mounting the third plate. So I'm left with a useless panel. Not helpful because after I contacted Summer Infant to see if I could buy another set of attachments they told me they don't sell them and there's nothing I can do about this third panel. For now it sits and waits for me to figure out how to do it - the 3D printer will come in handy, I'm sure - but when I do, I'll be wall-mounting it and using its capabilities to the fullest . Summer gate for children. So if you need a good goal with a few - frankly and only in my eyes - disadvantages, go for this one. By the way, the color is nice too. My living room is painted a soft grey, navy blue with red accents, matching/complementing its neutrality!
