I chose this model because it has a switch that not only turns it off but also works on different levels. I think it was a successful assistant for us since I trained her with a portable version from a young age. She's not thrilled, but we can finally sleep through the night without her barking all night. I don't know why it started but the last month has been hell. It's like she's making a roll call to find out who's home. The first night she tried several times but quickly stopped with 1-2 barks. The second night she tried only once. Night 3, I think she got the message. I only need to use this at the lowest level, but then again she has already trained with the portable version. "She" is a very strong-willed, very stubborn 10-year-old teacup Yorkie who thinks she's running the show.
