I already have an Inateck FD2102 docking station/standalone cloner and I can say that there is no functional difference between FD2102 and FD2005. Both builds are good and both do everything I want them to do, which is disk cloning. I've never really used USB drive docking - certainly not enough to provide a detailed overview of this aspect of the device - but I use drive cloning all the time. I've had it for a few years now) and the FD2005 (which I bought a few days ago) is simple: the progress bars are much easier to see on the FD2005; which makes the whole process of "mapping one drive to another drive" MUCH easier. I am currently converting all home computers from mechanical HDAa to SSD and this product made the process completely painless and hassle free. Place the source drive in bay "A" and the target drive in bay "B", turn on the device and wait for the ready lights, press and hold the "Copy" button for 3 seconds, then release and press Then short click the "Copy" button - you're off and cloning. Any drive up to 8TB will work well as long as the destination drive's capacity is equal to or greater than the source drive's capacity. Trying to tell the difference between booting from a source clone and a target clone is a waste of time. Unless the target clone is an SSD, the only difference you'll notice is faster boot times. FD2005 is slightly smaller. More expensive than the FD2102 so I have no problem buying one for each of my kids, along with a spare SSD so they can take full pictures of their work drives on a regular basis. This ensures that I don't reinstall operating systems and programs due to future drive failures; and I don't have to worry about kids not being able to use FD2005 as kids can already disassemble their machines, remove drives and clone themselves. Highly recommended for any computer. a user who wants to replace the hard drive himself.
