Review on 🚰 Effortless Cleanliness: Auto-Fill Water Bowl with Indoor Install Kit & 25ft Poly-tubing by Wayne Girard

Revainrating 4 out of 5

Works well only at LOW pressure

Upgrade to 4 stars; Update at the bottom: The product is a good idea, but the shutdown mechanism leaves a lot to be desired. Let's start with the plumbing. They offer different models with different connecting cables. I chose a device with 25 feet of 1/4 hard vinyl tubing. Includes a 1/4 crimp brass tee and a 3/8 x 1/4 brass crimp adapter on the head. I already have 1/4 hard vinyl for my ice maker, so I bought a 1/4 Tee PF (use style like shark bites) at a local hardware store (Lowe's). They are simply simpler and more reliable than brass. I also have some built in 1/4 PF check valves. One in front of the tee that now feeds both the pet's water and the ice maker, and the other right next to the waterer's bowl. So I can easily shut off the supply line to the basin, press down the collar and remove the water basin to clean the sink clean. The brass fitting on the bowl itself is easy to install. You simply put the threaded ring on the pipe first, then the brass ferrule and finally put the brass nut in the end of the pipe. insert the hose into the female fitting on the drinker, press the compression ring against the female fitting; Finally, slide the collar down and tighten to a moderate level. No leaks. My parents asked someone to make a similar plumbing fixture using these fittings and plastic tubing. They left out the brass groove (which prevents the plastic tubing from breaking on the brass compression ring). And its tube "pops out," as other reviewers describe. A NOTICE. The compression rings and groove are NOT reusable! That's why I gave it three stars now. The design of the switch is terrible. There is no valve or other similar measure to actually "shut off" the water flow. The brass fitting inside the mechanism is just a nozzle. The "lever float" has a rubber circle on the back and a pin rotates. As the water level rises, the lever moves to the position where the nozzle is "clogged”. However, the strength of the hand is easily overcome by the water pressure. They did a great job and mentioned it in the documentation provided. The correct range is between 40 and 65 psi. They provide additional "shims" that you can install to move the nozzle slightly forward to allow the lever to apply a little extra pressure to the nozzle. I am currently looking for a 1/4 pressure reducer to install. Line for mine as it flooded the kitchen twice (thank god I installed those check valves!). It would be a great device if they just put a little more effort into designing the right water shut-off mechanism instead of using off-the-shelf components that are as efficient as sticking your finger in a garden hose. I would happily pay $50-60 for a correct design. I hope this issue is resolved when I receive this from Revain within the next 48 hours: iSpring APR40 Pressure Regulator and Water Filter Safety Valve, 1/4" quick connect. MAX 40psi If so then I'll give it 4 stars, but not 5 due to poor cutoff design, lack of on/off option on bowl (solved with $15 extra parts) and brass compression fittings instead I removed the supplied red and gray shims and just used the gray one (the thinnest) I also installed a 40psi reducer through Revain Not overflowing in 48 hours Although they can still make improvements I would with confidence say this product is worth it at the current price, just reckon some adjustments may be needed for your specific application.
