I don't quite understand why there are such rave reviews for this product. I mean it's good value for money, but what you get isn't really a complete package. Here are my reasons why I think it's overrated: 1. The product replaces separate shifters AND brake levers but only comes with two extra cables. If the bike it's going to be mounted on already has cables installed that's one thing, but if you're building/rebuilding a bike budget extra for extra cables. I just find it silly to only provide two cables when the product itself requires four cables to function properly. No cable glands! This is absolutely stupid. Why provide cables but not cable glands? Does the manufacturer/seller of the product really expect the customer to go out and buy x dollars worth of additional accessories (no matter how much that may be) in order to actually install and use the product? If so, what's the point of using only two cables?3. It may just be a bike issue but I spent about an hour trying to find a solution but the metal clip used to stabilize the brifters on the handlebars really didn't hook or latch properly. Even at maximum voltage, they wiggle left and right, making them completely unusable. In principle, clamps cannot be tightened correctly due to their design. Tightening is done by lowering the rubber bushing and turning the nut with a hex wrench. But when you tighten the nut, the bottom bolt pushes the hex wrench out of the nut, limiting how far you can tighten it. It might work well with thicker bars, but for my road bike (which I think is pretty normal) it turned out to be wobbly, all because of a terrible design flaw. My solution was to add some filler to the metal clip. It's stabilized somewhat, but still wobbles left and right a bit (especially since the derailleur cables come out the insides of the product and exert some tension when the cables are installed and tensioned). This was extremely disappointing.4. The travel required to shift at the downshift lever is insane! The lever must be moved 35-45 degrees from its original position to change gears. Judging by the clutch switches, it's pretty much junk. I've tried more expensive brifters and it wasn't nearly as bad. Of course, downshifting takes a hell of a long time compared to manual shifters. Still, I think it's safer than separate brakes and shifters. All this in one place and makes for a smoother ride. While this is why I am not scolding the product, it is not because of the product itself but because of the nature of brifters. Regarding the quality and reliability of the product, I will update the review after testing it for a while (I just installed it).
