Review on ๐Ÿšฒ Grey 9-Speed SRAM PC 971 P-Link Bicycle Chain by Jason Wilson

Revainrating 5 out of 5

Quiet, bulletproof and easy to install

SRAM chains are the best - I always buy them instead of the Shimano chains that come with the bike. Why? The Power Link makes it easier to remove and install the chain without tools. This is especially useful when you're cruising cross-country and plugging in a connection - just plug in a spare power connection and you're good to go (now that I've mentioned it, buy a spare connection right now). In addition, they rotate silently and are bulletproof. I've only broken two in 10 years, but considering I'm a 200-pound rider and clocking in 1,000 miles a year, that's a pretty impressive track record. The question arises as to what to do with the lubricant that comes with the chain. Sheldon says leave it as it works fine. But it can get messy as hell. For me, I let it tangle for a few weeks and then take it off to put the white zipper on. Some immediately remove the chain because. prefer a clean chain. You can't go wrong anyway.

Pros
  • Great for me
Cons
  • All great
