Review on BQLZR Temperature 100 1250 Thermocouple Sensors by Nick Narvasa

Revainrating 5 out of 5

Accurate at high temperatures

This thermocouple was used with an old Fluke thermometer to measure the temperature of molten bronze during casting. Installed it on a steel tube as a handle; tested it by dipping it in a crucible when the copper charge was about half melted; The observed temperature was 1981 degrees Fahrenheit, about two degrees below the textbook melting point of copper. Very good results for the price. The only problem was that after a few seconds the spring on the cable started to melt and the bare part of the cable started to smoke (the stove burner was still on full blast). The second attempt went better after I quickly made a heat shield out of paper towels; the paper caught fire, but the probe was fine. Next time I will try aluminum foil in this area. The max temp I used was about 2049 F. Nice long cord. I will buy another.
