Review on Optimized for SEO: Planet Bike Borealis Cycling Gloves by Eric Nelso

Revainrating 3 out of 5

Cool design concept but more like 2 1/2 stars on execution

Great gloves, love their versatility BUT they don't like to keep my hands warm when it's windy!? I'm lost these are really good gloves and the 2 piece option is really good but on windy days when the temps are below freezing (so less wind chill) my fingertips get cold and then my whole arm for 20 minutes. I wear them on calm but very cold days with no problem, but when it's windy I sometimes wonder if they're even worn. The benefit is that you have a balaclava which I will replace with military wool and see if that helps on cold and windy days, but the lining wicks sweat and water very well and keeps my hands dry. The outer shell works well on its own, although it's a bit bulky without the padding to fill it up, but it has served me well on long cold-weather group rides. The tube is reflective but lacks a little. I wish they had more reflective material, especially on the palms, so the cars behind me could see where I was turning (or stopping) when signaling at night. A terry thumb is money, especially when your boogers are freezing! This will keep your face from looking like you have fangs growing out of your nose. Grip is ok, could be better but I'm not afraid of slipping. The only thing other than gloves that don't protect against the wind is that they're bulky. I have to put on the balaclava last, otherwise I can't close the helmet, chest and hip straps of the backpack or unbuckle them after riding. I'll be experimenting with different linings throughout the season to see if it helps on windy days but overall this is a worthwhile purchase, just wish there was more for the money paid. Sizing wise I could have gone a size down by looking at Planet Bikes online chart, but the gloves may have been too short at the time, but they feel a little too loose on my hands, but not by much .

Pros
  • Great for a small home
Cons
  • Questionable purchase for seniors
