Review on πŸ₯€ Thermos 16oz Stainless Steel Travel Tumbler with Vacuum Insulation by James Wing

Unacceptable lid design

I don't understand why all these people are turning their backs on thermoses with those horrible lids - well documented problems. 1/ The lid consists of 8 parts that need to be disassembled and reassembled. Otherwise, all that plastic is a breeding ground for bacteria! It's unbelievable to me that people don't know that. If you drink something with milk and sugar, you're in bad shape. 2/ They have no marking telling you where the spouts are and it's all black so you just can't see most of the time! They seemingly kept the same system as their old and shiny 360 caps, where you just rotated the cap a little bit and drank from every angle, but now you can only drink from two spots. If you hold it wrong, it will get on your clothes! I had to use a permanent marker in two places where there is a hole so I know where to drink. At least there's a little more room for your nose since most mug makers seem to forget we have noses and make the lids so small. They were an old design, the 360, which as I mentioned just needed a slight twist, was fully sealed, had no complicated internals and didn't require assembly, was easy to clean. You can drink from anywhere. Why change what worked? It also probably costs a lot less than those complicated, high-tech lids that don't do anything for temperature control, I think. I wrote to the customer service manager to go back to the old model, he said he would send it to the production team, let's hope they listen. It's also $10 more than Contigo, no wonder they have other sales.

Pros
  • Made of heavy duty stainless steel inside and out, the jar is built to last
Cons
  • I'll write back
