Worked in 2002 PT Cruiser

Bought for my husband for a 2002 PT Cruiser. He was told it would cost $500 to replace the manual transmission cable, but in reality the only problem was that one of the bushings had come loose from the shifter ring at the end of the cable. This piece was recommended in a YouTube video and we ordered it and it fits perfectly! Possible $500 problem solved for $14! My frugal husband was very happy about that! The car shifts normally again and is back on the road.

Pros
  • Great Price
Cons
  • No Instructions

Great for PT but use solid bushings or booger bushings.

this will solve the problem and help you in the future it can be quite difficult to install so you may have to boil it in hot water but other than that it works and it's great that I found it It was easy to order, but after a year or less it started to break. seem durable and don't feel as comfortable as a solid case

Need 4 instead of 3 - PT Cruiser 5spd 2008

Good product, seems to match the OEM exactly. Equipment: 08 PT Cruiser 5 speeds. Symptom: The shifter wobbles, goes beyond the right wall of the shifter to nowhere. Two sockets on the gearbox under the hood, with which it was easier. The two sockets are located in the gearbox under the hood and are a bit more difficult to reach. That's four, not three, so two sets are required for a full recovery. That's my only complaint, why not four? Otherwise a good product for the price and can save you a…

a blunt screwdriver is no problem and will snap onto pin

Purchased for a 1996 Dodge Neon with 5 speed manual transmission. Only a small bushing was needed. The pin it sits on is a protrusion. no hope of putting a clamp on this pup. The sleeve went easily into the (white) mount with a small, blunt screwdriver and snapped onto the pin. I've been driving without a hub for a year now. The car shifted well, but I had to be careful with reverse. With almost an inch in play you can do this. Shifting from 1st to 5th gear has become firmer/softer and reverse…

Pros
  • . Everything great!
Cons
  • Not sure

Excellent genuine Dorman product no longer sold by Autozone, Advanced Auto Parts or O'Reilly's Auto Parts. This is a must have for any Neon or PT Cruiser owner as these parts should be replaced in any manual vehicle of any brand. Don't burn the clutch spring and don't wear out the flywheel or gears! Don't waste your money on Dodge dealer or mechanic shop mechanics telling you the clutch is bad so throw it to me for $150! Tell them your shift knob is loose and hard to catch while driving so…

Pros
  • Ideal for outdoor activities

Some installation tips and don't trust the dealer in this case.

The dealer will try to tell you that you need to replace the entire link (I've been quoted over $800) or they will try to charge $100+ for just the bushings. On a 2006 PT Cruiser I was able to do it myself with a few basic tools and after watching a few YouTube videos. Now this kit comes in 3 parts, one with a screw and a plastic part under the shifter (I don't think I've tried it yet), and a large bushing and a small bushing. Note that the holes are different sizes on each side as there is a…
