We received one of these can openers as a gift for a wedding more than ten years ago and we really liked it. Recently the can opener stopped lifting the lid of the cans all the way so they ordered a new one. The replacement opened the cans easily, but left a "pin" on the cans that looked like a sliver of metal (different brands/styles of cans occurred). Sent it back for a replacement which they did. We started using the new can opener and at first it seemed to be the same as our original, we were very excited. However, now the can opener leaves metal shavings on the edge of the cans, which poses a serious hazard to food. Unfortunately we are outside the return window. I bought a no-sharp can opener at our local grocery store and had no problems with it. This is very disappointing for a product we have loved for so long, I can only assume we received a bad batch from the manufacturer.
