I bought this to convert MC4 cables from the solar panel to Power Pole connectors that connect to the BUDDIPOLE POWERmini charge controller. This allows me to control my ham radio using battery and solar power. The cable didn't work on the first try. I knew the solar panel and cables to the adapter were good because I used them with a different adapter. I checked with a multimeter and I read -20 VDC from the solar panels when it should read +20 VDC. Plugs are connected reversed! This adapter is wired as if the source were utility poles. In fact the opposite is true - the source is from the MC4 and the Power Poles are the load. The MC4 connectors were wired up by someone who didn't understand. When I swapped the Power Poles from red to black and vice versa, everything worked as it should. I have other 45Amp Power Pole connectors and a tool, but I'm not sure I'm wiring the adapter correctly. or just label it so I remember the connectors are the opposite of the color code. This adapter will work, but check polarity carefully so you don't accidentally damage anything. My charge controller has reverse polarity protection built in, but not all controllers or loads have this protection and reverse polarity can damage your equipment. I got lucky this time, but in the future I'll check the polarity with a multimeter before connecting anything.
