I have a fleet of GM pickups and Suburbans. The headlights started failing again. I was very frustrated until I realized that the plug to the lightbulb was to blame. It just can't handle the current, causing the plastic connector to melt. The combination of melted plastic and corrosion of the overheated metal joint cuts power to the bulb. If you don't catch it and just change the lightbulb, the process will result in a good-enough connection for a short time. These ceramic connectors seem like a logical solution. Wiring and pin headers are also more durable. The dealer wants to install the entire headlight and parking light wiring harness, which requires the headlight assembly to be removed. No cake walk. You have enough wire to cut the old one and connect it to the truck. I would suggest heat shrink joints but they are not 100% necessary in drier climates. Now I have them on hand for quick repairs as I always check the connections now.
