Ugh I was going to love this thing. I thought this would be the solution to all smelly room problems. I have 3 adopted kittens and they poop terribly badly. Twice a day like clockwork. While I'm really proud of her regularity, her poop smells awful. Enter the Litter Genie: Claims to capture scents. Okay, I'm sure that would do IF IT'S REALLY CLOSED! Let me explain: the way it's held closed is a pull tab on the front of the bottom compartment. You click a tab when you want to open it. However the block sent to me must be defective as the tab is notched so doesn't keep the compartment closed resulting not only in the smell escaping but I can't move it comfortably - you have to hold the bottom of the bucket, to make sure it doesn't detach from itself. Having to bend down and hold the bucket so close to me, the smell of trash and feces lingers in my nostrils for minutes after I put the bucket down. (I have to move it around so often because foster kittens have multiple litters, one in each room, FYI. I would buy a separate litter box to service each room/box. But as far as this litter box disappointed me, I' will I'll definitely look into other options.) Another big disappointment: the poo always gets stuck in the bag and that prevents it from falling. I pull the front tab and wait for something to fall into the bottom compartment: nothing happens. Instead, I have to push the waste away with the provided shovel, which I awkwardly shove into the bucket, turning sideways because it's so bulky it can barely fit. If anyone has any tips for me to prevent this from happening let me know, I'm pretty tired of shoveling poop down the garbage chute. My experience has taught me that using a regular trash can is probably more beneficial. more painless than with this one. I'm only giving it 2 stars because the top lid closes smoothly unlike a regular bin and is high enough that you don't have to bend down too much to dispose of the rubbish. Other than that, it's not a very good buy.
