I ordered a medium size for my 8 year old daughter who is about 51 inches tall. She temporarily took medication whose side effect was sensitivity to light. Unfortunately we had a long planned vacation trip to sunny California during the summer heat so I had to protect her skin as much as possible as we will be spending most of our vacation outside. My daughter complained that it was too hot to wear leggings. I don't blame her because at the amusement parks, where there is almost no shade, it was about 30 degrees Fahrenheit. But protecting her skin was her top priority. We returned to the hotel in the evening and no burns! Back then, these leggings were perfect for my daughter's needs. The UV protection definitely worked and I would buy it again if needed. Highly recommended.
