What is the best travel tripod? This of course depends entirely on your needs. In my case, I didn't want to tie a full-size family tripod to my bag. But I needed a tripod strong enough to capture some landscape and astrophotography shots on the trip. And who knows what I might see that might inspire me to take a photo that would require a tripod. After getting a travel tripod that extends to 63 inches for the first time, I was dismayed. It was heavy and the size was much larger than would be comfortable for me on my trip. Then I discovered this little man. my luggage without being overly bulky but stable enough to hold my Sony mirrorless camera with 24-105 zoom. Now it doesn't seem very stable with this lens and I don't want to place it anywhere that it isn't exactly level. It's a shame that they adjusted the angles a bit outwards so that the tripod is more stable in its first position. The legs are adjusted outwards to make it more stable, but the angle used there is so great that the height of the tripod is greatly reduced. I had to change this to start with the leg angles. Also the retractable legs are convenient but very difficult to pull out. I think they will loosen up over time, but I'm a little worried about their strength. I'm back from the trip, I can continue to report.
