I never knew this thing existed. I was struggling to find a cheap way to make Halloween costume toppers (floral foam cones are ridiculously expensive and paper cones would look like junk). I came across a video of a cosplayer doing different accents and realized this footage would work. I made a bunch of cones out of EVA foam sheets for support and then wrapped them in styrofoam. A little shaping and smoothing with water and they came out nice and clean. They also smoothed out a lot during the drying process (which is great for my spikes, but would be a pain for those who want more detail. Definitely need to dremel after drying). necessary. It's also fun to work with. My daughter decided she had to make the bones of the skeleton and loved it.
