I only bought this to read and clear codes. I've used it several times over the past year. The codes were displayed exactly "when". In most cases it will say there is no code even though the check engine light is on. The engine light goes out. Almost every time I connect it to my car and follow the steps to check the codes, my car stalls and sometimes even the engine. My car has no reason to. I also had 2 previous scanners that NEVER caused these problems. Maybe this is only a problem with this scanner. It's been a problem since I first bought it almost a year ago, but I've rarely used it. It took me so long to realize that he had problems. Based on my experience with this particular scanner, I do not recommend it. The other 2 brands I've used before have worked flawlessly with no issues. The product is still under warranty, but the company is based in China. It is unprofitable to return to the company.
