This review refers specifically to the 700M. Don't buy a manual controller! The Digital 700 is superb and would only get 4 stars for no warranty otherwise a perfect 5. I received this unit but once it arrived and I started reading the installation information I traded it in for the digital version. The humidifier itself is the same in both versions, but the digital controls are MUCH better. Based on the description I figured the only difference was the fancy LCD screen which I didn't care. Among other things, the digital version can control the oven fan as needed to regulate the humidity, regardless of whether heat is required. I can't think of a situation where someone doesn't need this feature. With a heat pump, where the fan runs more frequently, you can do without it. But in a gas oven, where you get high heat bursts on a short fan cycle, it's going to be difficult to get enough humidity in a short amount of time. You can get a separate part to enable this feature in the manual, but at the time of purchase you've more than made up for the small difference in price to get the digital version with the version already built-in. In addition, the digital controller adjusts the humidity based on the outside temperature according to the humidity level you select. This way you don't have to constantly adjust the handle to avoid condensation problems. Just install and forget. If you decide that manual control is what you need from time to time, the digital version also has a switch to make it fully manual like the manual version. The moisture percentage is given at each point in time, so no guesswork. The digital version is undoubtedly worth the small additional charge. The digital model was installed in a matter of weeks and it's great. My only complaint is the silly "no warranty unless installed by a licensed HVAC technician" trick. There's no reason to do it other than pat your business merchants on the back by continuing to sell direct to consumers. Any remotely handy person who can read a schematic can successfully install this.
