Don't set "steam " on your smart thermostat, you really need heat from the stove.

Many of the reviewers here say you can set it up as a "steam" humidifier on your smart thermostat, but trust me, that's not enough. I hooked it up to hot water and tested the idea and ran my fan non-stop for days with no significant increase in humidity. When looking at the humidity logs in the Ecobee System Monitor, a sharp increase in humidity is only clearly visible during the oven warm-up phase (see attached steam and humidity performance images). So far so good on heating, cooling and air quality

Will update review if anything goes wrong. Bought a 700M open box when available (was $140 for PM at the time of purchase). If you fluctuate between 700 (automatic) and 700m (manual), let me tell you straight away: The automatic part of the former is the adjustment of the assumed humidity. Get the digital version!

This review refers specifically to the 700M. Don't buy a manual controller! The Digital 700 is superb and would only get 4 stars for no warranty otherwise a perfect 5. I received this unit but once it arrived and I started reading the installation information I traded it in for the digital version. The humidifier itself is the same in both versions, but the digital controls are MUCH better. Based on the description I figured the only difference was the fancy LCD screen which I didn't care…

Excellent integration with Nest

If you're looking for a humidifier that works with Nest, look no further. No need for a digital car version and no need to use the controller that comes with this controller - Nest does it all for you. There are several reviewers here who have written good reviews with schematics that involve using a third party relay. This is ABSOLUTELY NOT NECESSARY with the Nest Thermostat. My humidification system works fine when I use the Standalone Humidifier, 1-Wire diagram from the Nest Pro Installation
