I used to use them exclusively on my Honda S2000 but I don't think I'll be buying more from Revain. Both filters were purchased from Revain, both are HP 1004 filters but the plates are completely different. Logic dictates that the more holes there are, the more oil can flow through the filter if needed without entering the bypass. If I buy from a store I can take the filter out of the box and make sure it has eight holes before I buy it. Is it important? Maybe not, but I see no reason to save money to change the design and it can't help in any way, just hurt. For what it's worth, the 5-hole filter says "Made in Korea" and the 8-hole filter says "Made in Mexico". Can a 5 hole filter be fake? Probably not, but I don't know.
