The HEPA filter does not fit perfectly on my Shark Navigator Lift-Away NV352 without a small modification

Just received this and immediately tried replacing my HEPA filter first. I was so sad to find out that it does not fit my Shark Navigator Lift-Away NV352 even though the product description says it should. The filter width (the length from the front to the back of the HEPA filter) is slightly larger than mine, which is preventing me from putting the front cover back on. The frame of the HEPA filter is made of hard plastic, so I couldn't "flatten" or "slide" the filter to fit without damaging the plastic hook grooves on the front cover. --- UPDATE ---- I checked again to compare the filter design to the original filter that came with my vacuum when I bought it. In fact, it is identical in size and shape, except for a small detail that did not allow the front cover to snap into place. See attached photo. As you can see, the original filter has rounded corners on the small protruding plastic tabs that are on the front of the filter. These plastic tabs (for lack of a better word) don't have the rounded corners of the original factory filter. It's just that that little extra piece of plastic prevented me from putting the front cover back on. I had to file and round these 4 plastic tabs with a hand file. After that, the front cover was finally able to snap into place. Annoyingly I had to file/round the corners to fit my Navigator NV352. The other parts of the foam filter were snug and fitted perfectly. I bought these filters because I noticed a very strong dusty smell while vacuuming and I knew it was time to change the filter. I vacuumed a bit after changing all the filters and I still smelled the dust as it definitely wasn't as smelly as it was before I changed all the filters. I suppose I'll have to take my vacuum apart and clean or bleach anything else that gives off a strong stench. I don't know if it's the HEPA filter that isn't of a high enough quality to eliminate the smell, but I won't be returning it because it's sufficient for now.
