Review on Janome S5 Computerized Sewing Machine by Jessica Lewis

Great machine

I received my Janome Skyline S5 sewing machine on June 2nd and can't say enough good things about it. First, it was easy to start sewing right away. It has easy refill instructions and having been making masks on my manual Janome HD3000 for 2-3 months, which I also really enjoy, I started sewing straight away. It's such a pleasure to use. It has 6 LEDs, 3 above the needle, which my 81 year old eyes love. It features automatic thread trimming, backstitch and a very easy to use computer screen. It's quieter than any other machine I've ever used. After I've done my regular sewing, I try different stitches and simple projects to experiment with. I made a 5 layer potholder and sewed it through without slowing down. I can't wait to quilt with it. The only problem I had was that all the stitches were on top, which you lift to thread through. I'm having trouble reading the numbers for each stitch. I remember the ones I use every day but the rest are too small. So I used my iPhone to take a picture of it and then I just zoomed in and ta-da, easy! So the problem is solved. I mentioned that he has a knee lever. We have a church ministry that makes bears for the ER at our local hospital. When I sew bears, I have to turn the fabric a lot. This machine has a needle down feature, so I lower the needle and then use the toggle lifter, to raise the presser foot a bit so I can move the fabric and just keep sewing. This makes it much faster. I'm also learning to knit with some of the knit stitches. If you are willing to try a computer controlled machine,
