This is a disappointing heating pad. I know it doesn't say "hot", but it certainly could have worked better. It has two settings. I use "hotter" but it still doesn't keep the coffee very warm. Bought to replace an old summer mug warmer. This keeps the coffee really warm and even hot when the level drops below half a cup. I'm someone who likes to sip coffee for a few hours. I've seen this and it has an auto shut off feature (after 8 hours) which I think could be useful as I often forget to turn off the other one. I come back in the morning and find that it's still on. I'm afraid of catching fire so I bought a new one. I know some of the reviews mentioned don't think it's very hot. But so many reviews talked about it I just had to start ignoring it as a factor. Also, I always covered my old coffee with a lid to keep it hot. And as the level got lower I had to keep the lid open because it would get too hot. I have continued to use the lid with it and it is a MUST that the coffee temperature does not get chilly. It's so disappointing. I know that using a flat-bottomed mug is recommended. But many other manufacturers have done the same. And since I used a lid I figured that would make up for it. Well, flat-bottomed cups are actually not very common. look at all yours There is usually at least a small ridge that prevents the bottom of most mugs from fully touching the surface. I had no problems with the old one. But now, with the same mugs I always have, it doesn't work. So, as many other reviewers have warned, if you don't like warm (not "very" warm, just warm) coffee, try a different brand. This is a nice smooth block. It's easy to turn it on and off.
