I bought a Light & Motion Urban 500 and received this newer model instead. Apparently they renamed Urban to Vis. Relax! I have four L&M Urban/Vis headlights in total and they are all amazing. I had an Urban 700 that broke after a few years of heavy use so I'm a 4 out of 5 overall and I was pretty happy with the 5th. It didn't last as long as I was hoping, but still longer than most other lights I've owned in 30 years of cycling. In fact, I still use the oldest one regularly. Is he at least 7-8 years old? I'm writing my review to reach the person who left the 1-star review and is complaining about the difficulties they've had with the "worthless blocking mode". It's possible the unit they received had an electronic fault, but I highly doubt it based on their statement "To turn on the light, you have to hold down the button to turn it on." That is 100% wrong. All four of my lights are next to me and they all turn on with a quick click. It's very simple:* 1 quick click turns it on (unless it's locked of course). To be clear, you do NOT have to hold down to turn it on. This is where the 1 star reviewer is wrong. It's possible and such, but not necessary, and holding it down for too long will activate the lock. * Subsequent presses change brightness modes. * Press and hold (maximum 2 seconds) turns off. (This is for ONLY power off, not power on) * Long press (4 seconds) to toggle lock mode on/off. The indicator flashes three times to indicate that the lock is on (red) or off (green). In my experience, the lockdown mode is amazing. Whether you carry these lights in your backpack, saddlebag, or fly with them in your luggage when traveling, the lockout mode is a great way to ensure you're never stuck with a dead battery because it was accidentally turned on. Of course. The button >can< supposedly press something for 4 seconds and then press again and turn on, but this hasn't happened to any of my lamps and I often (pre-Covid) travel with them and keep them in my saddle. bags all the time. Also, the headlights aren't "horribly designed" in my opinion. A strong plastic strap is by far the easiest method I've used for headlights. I don't let her on the bike because, well, Humans are bastards and steal everything. The straps are stiff when first purchased, but after a few uses they loosen up a bit, but not too much. I broke one twice, but it's no big deal to order a replacement (I just replaced one on my old flashlight a few hours before writing this). As for the "crappy" customer service experience, I can't comment. to the one, the. I have never had a problem with these lamps and have never contacted customer service. But Revain makes returning very easy, so I'd just return it for a different device and see if it works better. But honestly, I don't think there was anything wrong with their unit. they just didn't use it properly.TL;DR. I can only recommend this lamp series.
