Review on WirthCo 20092 Battery Doctor Isolator by Sean Andrews

Revainrating 1 out of 5

works great - some things to note [updated

I've had an isolator installed for [three years] and it's worked great, no problems. I would like to point out a few things: * It is often said that this voltage relay will switch on the auxiliary battery when the starter battery is "full"; that's not exactly what's going on. According to the manual and my observations, it connects when the starter battery is >= 13.4V. Lead-acid chemicals take several hours to fully charge (100% state of charge). In practice, this means that you start the car and after a few seconds the relay "clicks" and you are connected. I don't know, but I suspect that this load increase is easy on the generator. The charging voltage v+ is visible on the starter side and the relay does not open. This may or may not be what you want. See below.* You can attach a switch to a thin ground wire to disable the isolator. This can be useful if you e.g. B. Want to balance house batteries without putting that voltage back into the car. [I set a high voltage cutoff (a few bucks here at Revain) to turn off the Doctor if the solar panel raises the house voltage above 14.1 volts.] [I read a report of one of the connectors overheating - I suspect that it is so person had free contact. Compound that overheats and melts the plastic. Don't forget to check your connections when servicing the battery bank!]

Pros
  • Dope 🔥
Cons
