We bought her for an April 2019 cruise aboard Royal Caribbean Enchanment of the Seas. The radio worked great. Because of the amount of steel blocking the transmission, we could usually hear each other at any time, even after several decades! The radio might not always be crystal clear, but it was reliable enough that if the message wasn't clear enough, we could move around a bit and resend our message. Here are some examples. RADIO #1 in the room on Deck 2 next to the front of the ship, RADIO #2 on the beach at COCO CAY (when looking at the back of the ship and the opposite side) is almost a mile away and clear enough transmission quality to to give instructions. Where to meet. Radio #1 is again on deck 2 (front of ship, exterior with porthole) Radio #2 is on deck #11 at the rear of the ship. A kind of static, but quite understandable conversation. We had no interference from other radios, but there are 16 channels to choose from, all of which were pre-programmed. Battery life was all day long with only needed connectivity. Overall, we've been very impressed with the performance of these devices, which six of us use to stay connected. Really gave us a sense of peace by allowing the youth in the group to move a little further than they would without the radio. Excellent purchase!
