Check seals on delivery, seals scored, handles full 11 " bags

Got mine and found the seal in the box and loved it - they gave a spare. no It turned out to be in the machine, but somehow ended up outside. So of course the machine couldn't create any vacuum at all until I installed it. Even then, both seals were deformed and it took a few applications until they didn't stand up properly. Sometimes you have to push on the machine to get it to seal. It should increase the vacuum level as it seals. The most important thing that doesn't seem to be mentioned anywhere is that you absolutely must seal from the groove side down. It seems to work flat side down, but small leaks prevent a seal. If you caulk groove side down you will see a perfectly flat area about 1/8 inch wide. One weird, or maybe good, thing is to seal the ends of the bag, which it actually vacuums after a few seconds. For this to work you need to place the end of the bag in a vacuum chamber. I think it really helps form a seal by covering the little ridges in the pocket. I found that if I just tried to seal it without putting it in the camera, sometimes it wouldn't close properly. The cutter is completely unusable. I ended up ripping the cutter off a large plastic wrap dispenser and attaching it to the lid. Your cutting blade doesn't protrude from the surface, so I can't imagine how it's actually supposed to cut through the package unless you put it under the blade with your hand. And the back is a terrible place to put it - you can't cut a roll with that placement - it has to be on top. What I liked is that it holds a full 11 inch bag and locks the lid. closes when pressed. I tried a slightly cheaper version that didn't work either, and those are nice features to justify the extra weight over the cheaper version. This one weighs 2 pounds while the cheaper one is just 1 pound. The connector is on the side to avoid bag clogging and includes a hose to connect to the canister connector. Again, none of these features were available on the cheaper competitor. Reliable. I just want the gaskets installed properly upon delivery so I can waste a lot of time trying to get it working. I've successfully handled about 50 pounds of fish on one trip with it, so I recommend it.
