Review on 🏼 Silver MKS GR-9 Platform Pedals - 9/16 Inch by Chris Morgan

Revainrating 4 out of 5

Laconic, agile and aesthetic.

These are the smallest pedals I have ever ridden. Narrow sizes can have both advantages and disadvantages, depending on whether or not you really need the extra clearance. I don't really need the extra space, so the narrow shape is more of a downside for me. When getting on and off, I never felt that my stance was anywhere near as stable as with the big pedals. When I ride, they feel very small under my feet. However, the quality is top-notch for the price, and I really appreciate the flat surface and toothless design. I taped mine with clear skateboard grip tape because they can be slippery in wet weather and the process was annoying. It takes meticulous patience for the griptape to stick to the spaces around the bumps, as well as some sort of ridge to apply pressure - I damaged the fork pommel on the grain of the tape just for the material to stick to the pedals and with very light weight be flush with increased traction irregularities. It was a test (but once it's on, you're good). I would still prefer them to a pair of notched cage pedals just for the comfort factor, but I would also add that plastic BMX pedals are a better choice if you want a comfortable pedal and don't really care about clearance. They're hard to fault objectively (and they look good on your bike), but they might not be for everyone.

Pros
  • Great construction
Cons
  • Crumpled packaging
