I'm an engineer and a skeptic, so I didn't believe it when my sister-in-law told me these bullets really work. After using them for a few months I can positively say that they work. The laundry dries faster, becomes fluffy and soft. But how? Introduce static electricity, here's how. The balls of fine wool blanket the dryer's contents with static electricity as the dryer spins, causing the dryer's contents to bounce off each other, giving them room to fluff up and dry faster. You will find that once the dryer has stopped there is more static electricity in the pile of laundry but your clothes will be softer and drying time will be reduced by about 20% as the contents float more freely in the dryer. Our large household dryer has four of these balls for each medium to heavy load. It's important not to overload the dryer with too many items at once, as the balls of yarn need clearance to flap the laundry to function properly. Also, expect a ball or two to get tangled up in a shirt sleeve or fitted sheet from time to time - you'll have to "chase" them in the load as you fold them. But it's just fun. Oh, and they seem to last forever. I don't see why they need to be changed unless they get lost where the extra sock goes.
