Review on Teradek Vidiu Go Deluxe Kit: Enhanced HD Live Streaming Encoder Bundle with Core Credits, 2 Node Modems, Carrying Case, and More (North America) by Ross Bagby

I bought the Vidiu X with some hesitation after reading a number of Teradek product reviews and watching a video review of the Vidiu X. Vidiu X got too hot in many of the tests. . I'm the first Teradek customer and decided to give it a go. Unfortunately, I ran into problems right away when I started using the encoder. It does not reliably detect and connect to an HDMI video input. After spending several weeks replacing cables, firmware, etc., I had to pay to ship it back to the Teradek service center. When I received the refurbished encoder, it still works great. If it continues to work without problems, I will be very happy with this encoder. It's still getting very hot. I've included a temperature chart showing how hot the bottom mounting plate gets. The back of the panel, next to the cables, heats up to 123F/50C. At these temperatures, the encoder gives off a burning smell. I tried to leave a message for the service department but no one calls back. Maybe if it is installed it will help lower the temperature. It would be helpful if Teradek answered these questions so we can use their products with confidence. I'll be happy to increase my rating to 5 stars if I don't have any more problems. For now I'm leaving three stars.
