Great for All Ages - Portable AV

I bought this about three months ago. Our kids aged 9 and 12 love it. They prefer to look at the TV screen because they are lying on the bed or anywhere and they can only see what they want. The price of the SDVD1030 is so cheap that I bought two. So no fights between two kids about what to watch. Everyone takes a block and looks at what they want. I bought one for my mom (she's in her 80's) who doesn't like messing around with electronics or changing the input mode on her TV. She loves it too. Just insert your photo CD, DVD, flash drive or SD card and they all start easily. And the 10 inch screen is great for the elderly. The battery lasts a long time. Five hours seems enough. The audio is good for viewing from 12 to 18 inches away from your face, but you'll need headphones or earphones in noisy environments. external speaker. But then you have to turn on your regular TV/DVD player if there is also a lot of noise in the room. The sound is pretty good for the purposes of this portable DVD player. I just bought one for an elderly friend who is also not tech friendly. It just works right out of the box. The USB and SD inputs make it so flexible for the type of media/files you want to display. It is light but well made. So far no problems with the use/light abuse that 9 and 12 year olds do around the house. Kids love the swiveling screen. And I think it would be useful for those who don't have much mobility and who need to see it while sitting in a chair or lying in bed. This is a great product at a great price which is why I keep buying this product whenever a portable DVD player is needed. UPDATE: I was asked if files on SD cards and USB sticks are recognized. Here's what I found. Both SD card and USB flash drive play MPG video files smoothly. The USB drive played vob with no problems, the SD card played it with difficulty - the sound was choppy. Interestingly, the video portion of the 3GP files plays, but the audio does not. MP3 audio and JPG photo files also play well. wav and bmp were not recognized. If you remove the card from the camera and reinsert it, it works well with jpg files, but not with mov or avi files.
