Right out of the box they smell like cedar. After about two months of use, the smell wasn't as strong; mainly because I didn't use enough. Now I can only smell it when my nose is close to the rings. I don't mind because I don't want my clothes to smell too much like cedar. They fit my Target (Room Essentials) brand plastic hangers. The rings are approximately 1 and 7/8 inch in diameter with a hole just under 1/2 inch in diameter. Overall I am satisfied with this product. How much cedar do I need? Enough that I can still smell the cedar even after 24 hours. I didn't put enough in my closet, that's why the smell dissipated so quickly, so I'll be buying more cedar rings. How long should cedar rings be stored? Between 1 month and 12 months depending on how often the room is opened. A month for frequently opened closets; 12 months in stock. To be effective, I need to smell the cedar when it's at least a few inches from my nose. Keeping my closet door closed also makes them last longer. How to revive a cedar? I will revitalize mine with a spray of cedarwood essential oils as the volatile essential oils will fade the scent.
