I don't remember how smooth my original skates were when they were new, but these skates became much smoother than the original skates after a few years. It was the perfect replacement for my g305. It should be noted that the original skates have a thin double-sided plastic tape that can detach from the skate and remain on the mouse. Make sure you remove that too if it doesn't come loose with the skate.
