I was about to buy 7-9 inch melamine plates when I came across these farm animal plates. They are so cute that I just have to buy them despite the high price. They're well made and a lot thicker than I expected, which is a good thing. Graphics are well done, not blurry or off-center; However, I will be hand washing these plates as I'm not sure how well the graphics will hold up over time after being washed in the dishwasher. Recommend these unique plates! They arrived within the given time frame. Edit: I wanted to add a comment on another poster's complaint about the chalk feel and poor quality. You may have gotten a "bad" set but I totally disagree with the low quality claim, as I said above these plates are thicker than my other melamine plates and weigh more than my other plates. Yes, they do have a "chalky" kind of finish, but a matte finish would be a better description as they mimic paper plates. In my opinion, the finish in no way detracts from the look or quality of the cymbals. We use these plates all the time. I washed them in the dishwasher and the plates still look like new. My only caveat: I wouldn't use sharp knives to cut food as it could damage the surface. This happened to one of my other melamine plates (not in this set), a knife scratched it when I was cutting my salad. 2. Edit: I've had this record set for 16 months now. They still look as good as the day we received them! We use them all the time and they always go through the dishwasher and still look brand new. Absolutely no graphic fading, no chips, cracks, nothing. I've even dropped them occasionally (we have a vinyl floor in our kitchen) and the plates have held up really well! If I had room in my closet I would definitely buy a different set. I love these plates more than my old Fiestaware lol!
