I ordered some of these ankle braces when I rolled my ankle out the door off the windowsill and damaged it quite badly and I got this typical big boot to put on and that was very awkward. As soon as it arrived I put it on (large) and it fit very comfortably so I ordered x large. Depending on the shoe, I wear size 11 to 12 and follow the size chart. This is the best support with laces and high ankle support. I was able to wear this with my Timberland work boots and it protected my ankle very well. Back home I wear the shoe to bed and then during the day. Note: This was against my podiatrist's instructions. He didn't advise because he wanted me to wear the boot 24 hours a day for 3-5 weeks, one exception; Shower. So for now, my program loads at night in the dream, and that's during the day. Of course my ankle hurts but it's healing and it's working for me. You have to make that decision yourself if, like me, you're violating doctor's orders. I sent back the other ankle braces as they didn't support the ankle.
